Message from the Founder President
With pleasure I am writing this message as the founder President of the Ceylon College of Family Physicians. This college was formulated with the efforts of likeminded professionals with the realization of the need for an organization to incorporate those involved in the delivery of primary care and those who wish to pursue the same speciality.
With the recognition of Family Medicine as the sixth clinical discipline by the WHO, a global movement emerged to foster the development of primary care and ensure Universal Health Coverage through its provision. The Ceylon College of Family Physicians will actively collaborate with all stakeholders to strive for the realization of this objective in Sri Lanka.
Aligned with the college's motto, our objective is to facilitate the delivery of high-quality primary care characterized by compassion, while instilling the art of Family Medicine.
To achieve Universal Health Coverage, it is imperative to modify primary care policies in the country, particularly pertaining to curative aspects, to establish seamless continuity of care and an effective referral system.
The college council comprises individuals with diverse talents and a shared vision to enhance primary care in the country. Each member demonstrates unwavering dedication towards achieving these objectives.
As the founding president, my vision is to establish a robust foundation for the college, ensuring its recognition as a reputable institution. I humbly invite primary care providers within the country and overseas to unite with us in elevating the standards of Family Medicine in Sri Lanka.
